Race Report by Ivan Hooper:
Well I managed to make it off the hill again this year and into town for Clark County Running Club's Heritage Trail run on Saturday; a mixed bag of events consisting of your choice of a 3, 7, or 10 mile run on the trail around the south side of Lacamas Lake.  This year's attendance seemed a little less than last, but it looked like about 95 people showed up for the event.

There was snow on the ground in Skamania County, and it was misting off and on as I drove into Washougal and Camas, but it stopped raining for the race.  The unofficial race weather conditions were low to mid thirties, partly partly, followed by periods of partly, with a 40% chance of partly in the latter half of the race.  The trail was in pretty good shape; save a few small patches of ice lingering from the 'Artic Blast of 2010!"  I managed a 54:20 something finish in the 7 miler, a little off of last year's time, but I remember last year being in the mid 40's and perfect weather and I didn't have a cold (insert the rest of the excuses here), still good enough for 11th.  After the race, Kevin Edwards (AKA Captain Neon) led a Polar bear dip, I think he had 6 brave runners join him *conned 6 people* for a short dip in the lake.  Hold your nose Kevin, that water's nasty!!!

It was a great race, the CGRC had at least 7 members in attendance:  Stan and Esther Holman, Paul and Jessica Hooper, Gary Daubenspeck, Madelliene Sellers, and your's truly, RUN MONKEY!  The 3 mile race was won by Joe Dudman, with a 5:32 pace; Rick Rapaport took top honors in the 7 miler with a 6:07 pace. and Matt Porter barely looked winded as the top finisher in the 10 miler with a 6:02 overall pace.

Til next time, remember the immortal words of Bob Ross:
"Be sure to use odorless paint thinner.  If it isn't odorless, you'll find yourself working alone pretty quick."
Happy Running,
Ivan
