CGRC - Groundhog Hustle 5K

The 2011 CGRC Groundhog Hustle 5K is in the books, as they say.  Madeleine Sellers was our Race Director and did an incredible job.  Kyle Chaffin and Stan Holman were her loyal assistants in Nathan absence.

It turned out to be a perfect day for a  running race in Skamania, WA.

I had thought that possibly the old NW drizzle would take over to make it a rather wet run for the folks  participating in this years 2011 Ground Hog Hustle 5 k running race. The clouds stayed closed and even a few little peeks from the sun made it a dry race.

Does he look like he is having fun or what?
It was great to see 56 runners and walkers who participated. The run goes through the beautiful Skamania neighborhood  & then onto the gorgeous scenic Sam Walker Park to put the participants onto a nice trail that circles the park. There are even views of the Falls across the Columbia on the Oregon side of the river. There is also a portion of the trail which goes through Cedar Forest that gives you the feel like you are passing through a redwood wonderland. It is not uncommon to see Eagles and Hawks flying over head.

While the runners were racing along with the walkers the volunteers quickly set up the Raffle prizes and goodies for the participants to munch on after the race. There was also some tea /cider and some very strong coffee!!!In addition there were  Peanuts /Salmon spread on crackers & some homemade cookies from Claudia Holman.& they were yummy!

There was an awards Ceremony! Way to go winners!

Check the CGRC website for later for runners times and places!

There was a raffle after where many lucky folks got to pick a special prize.

My husband Nathan Sellers is the other Race director. He usually assumes most of the responsibility so I can race.  I'm the wife, Madeleine, the other Race director. I love running in this race and plan to run next year.  This year Nathan, my husband, has been attending a 9-month dog training school in St Louis, MO, and he was not able to be here. He has graduated from the Professional Program and has been accepted to the Masters.  I'm very proud of him!

I have been holding down the Fort here at home in his absence.

I was the Race Director this year with the help of Stan Holman and Kyle. Thanks guys! We missed you Nathan!

I had a great time and things seems to go well. It seemed the runners and walkers also had a great time.!!

Lots of smiling faces !!

Our Race Director, Madeleine
Thanks to all those that came and made this a great race.  It was a great way to kick start 2011!

Happy Running & Walking!
